Plants are usually the final touch to your landscape project and can create a different feel depending on the quality, size and type of plant used.

Any plants selected need to be in healthy condition and well watered prior to planting to ensure their ongoing viability.

To create a visually pleasing effect a range of established plants and smaller plants should be used. Established plants can either be existing shrubs or trees kept because of their relevance in the landscape or they can be imported as part of the planting scheme.

Lower plantings should flower at different times of the year and/or have contrasting foliage to give the landscape variety and interest.

Plants should be set out in their final position before planting is commenced.

This allows you to visualize how the landscape will look after planting and gives you the opportunity to move plants around and make final adjustments before they are in the ground. For hedging or rows of planting a tape measure should be used to allow correct spacing to be achieved and therefore maximum effect.
